The Romani Cultural and Arts Company (RCAC) completed its pre consultation on the Welsh Government’s Child Poverty Strategy. The strategy has been in place since 2015 and reflects the Welsh Government’s commitment to address inequalities and poverty in the county in an effort to increase its desirability as a place to live. The Welsh Government commissioned the RCAC to gather the opinions and experiences of those members of the Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller communities that were deemed essential in the formulation of this strategy. Specifically, young people, parents/carers, and grandparents were consulted. The report, delivered by the RCAC and authored by Dr Aleksandar Marinov, was based on the discussions that took place during five focus groups with GRT groups during the month of April. The report was submitted to the Welsh Government for its consideration.
