TRAVELLERS’ TIMES THEN & NOW

You are may already know of the Rural Media Company as the publisher of Travellers’ Times (TT).  TT is the only national magazine and web portal for both the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) communities, and other stakeholders including service providers, the media, politicians and policy makers.  TT also delivers a media and communications skills programme throughout England.

Our work with the GRT community started over 25 years ago when we ran a series of pioneering community arts and media projects with local Herefordshire families.  These projects grew into what TT is today.  Rural Media has just commissioned a new website with high level functionality that will not only publish news and information of importance to the GRT community, but also enable the community to generate and publish their own content.

To celebrate the launch of the new Travellers’ Times website we are holding a special event at the Courtyard in Hereford to which I very much hope you will be able to come (see below).  As well as a tour of the new web site, you will have an opportunity of seeing a selection of the wonderful photographs taken by young Traveller women who documented their lives in Herefordshire in the late 1980s, short films from our archive, hear from the Travellers’ Times Editor, Damian Le Bas and meet local Traveller families themselves.  The Travellers’ Times event will be opened by Herefordshire Councillor, Nick Nenadich.
